Mr Hancock says he is keen to play his part in the future of Greater Shepparton City Council, having complained in the past that the council is not listening to the community.
He is a Chilcott Real Estate sales executive and a senior vice-president with Goulburn Valley Umpires Association, as well as head coach for the AFL Diversity Academy at Shepparton.
Mr Hancock says Shepparton needs to encourage new business and industry.
He says having Shepparton on the route of a proposed high-speed rail connection between Melbourne and Sydney, and the Shepparton bypass projects both need to be a priority for the council.
Mr Hancock is critical of the city’s organic waste collection service as a ‘‘rate increase by stealth’’.
Instead he says the city needs to be spending wisely in the existing rate-capping environment to ensure ongoing development.
Among the projects he believes need consideration are putting the mall under cover with solar panels to help meet greenhouse emission targets.
Mr Hancock says the city also needs to address parking.
