Ms Abdullah says there should be more women, and greater trust and honesty on Greater Shepparton City Council.

She is a community leader and project management professional with more than 20 years experience in the IT, health care and government sectors.

Ms Abdullah has worked for the council, but stepped down to concentrate on contesting the election.

She says she offers a compassionate and hard-working approach and wants to see a council with the community at its heart.

Among her goals, she cites building a greener Greater Shepparton and a revitalised CBD to ‘‘enhance livability for residents and tourists’’.

Ms Abdullah believes in good governance, unity and respect for diversity and wants women to be encouraged to take up roles on council.

Ms Abdullah is a member of the Women’s Charter Advisory Committee and stresses the need to bridge gaps between the council and the community.

‘‘As a councillor you should be strong enough to make a stand and not compromise on the best (outcomes) for the community,’’ she says.
