Mr Sumaili and his family have made Shepparton their home for the past 11 years.
He is project manager for Future Voices Incorporated, a program supporting young people to close the unemployment gap, and he has recently been appointed to the Hume regional advisory council to the Minister for Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship.
Mr Sumaili says he is committed to achieving social justice and seeks support as a candidate for Greater Shepparton City Council in order to build a stronger and more connected municipality, while maintaining the council’s financial sustainability, transparency and accountability in decision making.
He holds a Bachelor of Human Services and has participated in the Victoria University and Fairley Leadership programs.
Mr Sumaili says he will stand up for social issues and take a community-based approach to decision-making.
He says understanding international trends and opportunities would benefit the region’s economic future and an expansion of tourism, industry, farming innovation and social enterprise development.
