The outgoing Mayor and councillor is focused on being re-elected to Greater Shepparton City Council to have more time to make it Victoria’s premier regional city.
He says the council has recently been more focused on serving its constituents, with regular meetings with state and federal governments aimed at delivering the city a greater share of funding.
Mr Adem joined council halfway during its last term and says his desire to grow the region is aimed at water security, opening the door for business investment, better rail and the city’s bypass.
But he says the outgoing council delivered achievements including the new Shepparton Art Museum and a new regional sports precinct.
He says the election of two additional councillors at next month’s poll would hopefully provide a more diverse range of views and a fairer representation of the region’s demographic.
Mr Adem says he wants a full term on council to provide an independent voice of reason and an ability to look at issues empathetically. He is keen to continue as mayor should he be re-elected.
